It began to be represented in 1993, the year in which the Burial of the Sardine was recovered for Carnival. Thanks to the initiative of the artist from G\\u00fcimare Javier Eloy Campos, the act was inspired by the legends of witchcraft that were part of the oral tradition of the area.\\r\\rThe Menceyato de G\\u00fc\\u00edmar was an area very rich in bailaderos. One of the best known is that of Altos del Escobonal. The bailaderos were places where the aborigines met and that after the Castilian conquest were linked to witches by the Catholic Church to discredit the Guanche priestesses. Those hoaxes about terrible acts permeated the population and its echo has reached our days, mixing with myths and legends. One of those legends said that witches turned into donkeys to go unnoticed among the neighbors and thus be able to cast a spell on them to steal their crops and property.\\r\\rWith this material, the youth of G\\u00fc\\u00edmar under the Cultural Association of Las Burras de G\\u00fc\\u00edmar have captured all those terrors in a magical show. They themselves are in charge of acting and making the colorful costumes and masks in which recycling prevails.\\r\\rThe representation of Las Burras is carried out at night to give more showiness to the evil beings that are summoned. The act begins with the procession of the Burial of the Sardine in the company of widows and peasants sorry for the loss. During the tour, some strange women watch them stealthily. They are the witches. When the funeral procession passes in front of them, they transform into donkeys to hide their intentions.
